Flying for the first time can feel overwhelming, but the process is straightforward once you understand the steps. Remove laptops and liquids (in containers of 3.4 ounces or less, in a clear quart-size bag) from your carry-on. Wear shoes that are easy to remove. Once through security, find your gate and listen for boarding announcements. Airlines typically board by zones or groups, which are printed on your boarding pass. Store your carry-on in the overhead bin and your personal item under the seat in front of you. Keep your seatbelt fastened whenever you are seated.
During the flight, stay hydrated, move your legs periodically on long flights, and follow crew instructions. When you land, wait for the seatbelt sign to turn off before standing.
